Child Safety & Protection Policy

1. Commitment to Child Safety & Protection
Our professional services are designed for and directed to individuals over the age of 18. We acknowledge that minors may contact IQ Advisor for information; however, we do not knowingly collect personal data from, or enter into service agreements with, individuals under the age of 18 without express parental or legal guardian consent. IQ Advisor has a moral and legal duty of care to ensure a safe environment for any children or young people who interact with our services. We are committed to a zero-tolerance approach toward child abuse, including physical, emotional, psychological, or sexual abuse, as well as neglect and bullying. IQ Advisor provides services to individual over the age of 18 though understands individuals may reach out to our organisation for information in relation to our services.
2. Personnel Requirements
To maintain the highest standards of safety and professional integrity:
Blue Card / WWCC: All personnel or contractors representing IQ Advisor in capacities involving children must hold a current Blue Card (Queensland) or equivalent state-based Working with Children Check.
Screening: We will not engage any staff member or contractor where there is any doubt concerning their suitability to work around minors.
Professional Conduct: Personnel must always treat children with dignity and respect, actively promoting their right to feel safe and cared for.
3. Safe Professional Practices
When conducting business activities (such as cybersecurity workshops or governance mentoring) involving minors, IQ Advisor adheres to the following "Child Safe" principles:
Visibility: Avoid "one-on-one" situations in enclosed or private spaces. Wherever possible, ensure activities are conducted in the presence of another adult (e.g., a teacher, parent, or colleague) or in a clearly visible public area.
Inclusivity: We respect the cultural values of all children and provide a safe environment for those from all backgrounds, including children with physical, intellectual, or sensory impairments.
Digital Safety: Given our focus on AI and technology, we apply these safety standards to all digital interactions and remote mentoring sessions.
4. Mandatory Reporting & Legal Obligations
Under Queensland law, all adults have a duty to report sexual offending against children to the Police. IQ Advisor mandates that any personnel who suspect a child is at risk of harm must take immediate action.
Reporting Requirements:
Immediate Danger: If a child is in immediate danger, call 000.
Suspected Abuse: Any suspicion or disclosure of child abuse—whether occurring within an IQ Advisor activity or elsewhere—must be reported to the Police (131 444) and/or Child Safety Services.
Internal Notification: Any staff member who makes a report to authorities must notify the IQ Advisor Principal as soon as practicable, provided doing so does not compromise the safety of the child or an active investigation.
5. Handling a Disclosure
If a child or young person discloses an experience of abuse to an IQ Advisor representative, the following procedure must be followed:
Remain Calm: Listen supportively without showing shock or anger.
Privacy, not Secrecy: Move to a place that is private enough for the child to talk but stay within sight of other adults. Never promise to keep the disclosure a secret.
Listen & Validate: Believe the child and do not ask leading questions or attempt to "investigate" the matter yourself.
Document: Take detailed, objective notes of exactly what was said as soon as possible.
Report: Contact the Police immediately.
